    Circumstances Surrounding the Tragedy

    Miller’s body was discovered in a hotel room in Manuel Antonio, a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful resorts and beaches. An official stated that there was a possibility of intoxication related to the food he ingested, but the cause of death remains preliminary as authorities await the results of an autopsy and toxicology analysis.

    The 14-year-old passed away on a family vacation in Costa Rica from “a possible intoxication after apparently ingesting some food,” a Costa Rican official told NBC News.

    Family’s Heartfelt Statement

    Brett and his wife, Jessica, announced their son’s tragic passing in a joint statement shared via the Yankees’ official social media account. They expressed their profound grief, stating, “With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of our youngest son, Miller.”  They revealed that Miller had fallen ill along with several other family members during the vacation.

    “We have so many questions and so few answers,” the couple continued, adding that Miller “passed away peacefully in his sleep.” They described him as a beloved son and brother who lived life to the fullest, enjoying activities like football, baseball, golf, hunting, and fishing.

    The Yankees organization also released a statement expressing their condolences, calling Miller’s death an “unimaginable loss.” They highlighted his vibrant personality, stating, “We grieve with Brett, Jessica, Hunter, and their community of family and friends in mourning the loss of Miller, who had a spark in his eyes, an outgoing and feisty personality, and a warm and loving nature.”
